Rajapaksa arrived in Thailand from Singapore

Former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has now reached Thailand after spending 28 days in Singapore. In Singapore, he wanted permanent residential permission, but the government there did not give him this approval. It is also being said about Thailand that Rajapaksa will only be able to stay there for a few days, because he has a visiting visa there too.

According to Sri Lankan media, it is not yet clear where Rajapaksa will go after this, as no country has issued him a residential or permanent visa so far. Rajapaksa's party has said that the former president will return to the country soon. However, no date has been given for this.

Left on 13 July
Rajapaksa left Sri Lanka with his family on 13 July after the discontent against him in the country. After that he reached Singapore. It was from here that he mailed his resignation from the post. Singapore twice allowed him to stay for 28 days. After that it refused to increase it. Several Sri Lankan organizations had asked Singapore to register a case against Rajapaksa. However, before that he left this country.
According to reports, Gotabaya left for Thailand on a routine flight from Singapore on Thursday afternoon. Where is his family at the moment? Its information has not been revealed yet.

Thailand Government Confirms The
Government of Thailand had made it clear on Thursday itself that the former Sri Lankan President had sought permission to visit the country. He has been given a visiting visa at present. The statement also said that 73-year-old Rajapaksa has been granted a visiting visa on humanitarian grounds. The special thing is that Thailand's visa has been given conditionally. According to the statement, Rajapaksa can try to get permanent asylum in another country by staying here, but he will not be able to take part in any political activity related to Sri Lanka from here. It is believed that Rajapaksa can stay in Bangkok for 90 days. The Maldives and Mauritius have not yet responded in the matter of granting them political asylum.

The last phase of this mass movement to overthrow Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who had fled the country , started in the first week of July. On July 9, the general public took possession of the President's residence and the Prime Minister's residence. Gotabaya ran away from his government house. On July 13, Gotabaya along with his family first fled to Maldives. After that reached Singapore. Emergency was again imposed in Sri Lanka on the same day.

The credit for the overthrow of the powerful Rajapaksa family, considered responsible for Sri Lanka's economic crisis, goes to the general public's movement, which is unique in the history of Sri Lanka.
